Jeff Orchard, Associate Professor in the David R. Cheriton School of Computer Science, sat down with Researcher on Call to discuss his research on theoretical and computational neuroscience in an episode of Science Scoop.

Orchard's research aims to uncover mechanisms that underlie the computational and organizational aspects of the brain.  For example, how oscillations are used, and how different brain regions coordinate to perform computations.

Kate Larson, Associate Professor with the David R. Cheriton School of Computer Science is using game theory in the field to help distressed provincial forest-firefighting agencies gain a competitive edge when resources are thin and a fire is raging. 

Dan Vogel, Post Doctoral Fellow with the David R. Cheriton School of Computer Science, is working on a way to communicate with your home. A member of Waterloo's Human Computer Interaction Lab, Vogel, who will join the School of Computer Science as a professor this May, focuses his research on large displays, input technologies and interaction techniques, and aesthetic interaction.

Henry Shi, a 3A Computer Science student, has been awarded both a co-op student of the year award from the University of Waterloo and one of two national awards from the Canadian Association for Co-operative Education.

Doug Stinson, a professor with the School of Computer Science, Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, and internationally renowned scholar in the fields of cryptography, security, and combinatorics, has been named University Professor. This fantastic honour is the third to be bestowed on a faculty member from the School of Computer Science.
